NATIONAL ALLIANCE OF COMMUNITY FOREST ASSOCIATIONS

(NACOFA)

The National Alliance of Community Forests Associations (NACOFA) is an umbrella of Community Forest Associations (CFAs) in Kenya. The network was established in 2002 and registered in 2005 with the aim of adopting a common approach to Participatory Forest Management (PFM) as stipulated in the then Forest Act 2005, and the Forest Conservation and Management Act 2016. NACOFA acts as a link between CFAs, and with Government institutions, non-governmental organizations, private sector, and development partners.

Forest Management

Assist Community Forest Associations (CFAs) in developing forest management plans and agreements tailored to their respective forest ecosystems.

Certification

Awards certification to CFAs members who have completed training and demonstrated proficiency in skills essential for forest conservation.

Linkage of CFAs

Act as a link between forest associations with the government and other relevant stakeholders

Training

Provides efficient training and equips communities and key stakeholders for the sustainable management of forest resources.
